Dear brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ,
One cannot stop the mission of God by arresting a man of God
Introduction: God’s Work Cannot Be Arrested
Today’s Gospel reminds us that even when human authority tries to silence a prophet, God’s plan cannot be stopped. John the Baptist, the voice crying in the wilderness, is arrested. The world might think the mission has ended. But God’s mission is unstoppable.
From the very moment John is imprisoned, Jesus begins His ministry. This shows us a profound truth: God’s plan is larger than any human obstacle.
Repentance: Turning the Heart Toward God
Jesus’ first words echo John’s message:
“Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand.”
Repentance is not fear; it is change of heart and direction. It is letting go of pride, selfishness, and what keeps God from reigning in our lives.
The Kingdom is near—but only those who open their hearts and repent will see it. Repentance allows us to recognize God’s presence even in times of difficulty, challenge, or oppression.
God Acts in the Ordinary
Jesus begins His mission not in a palace, not in the center of power, but in Galilee, a land considered ordinary, overlooked, and humble.
God works through what the world often ignores:
the lowly,
the simple,
the unnoticed.
Even when we feel powerless, silenced, or overwhelmed, God’s work continues quietly and steadily.
One Cannot Stop God’s Mission
The arrest of John is a reminder:Human authority can silence a messenger, delay a mission, or challenge the faithful—but it cannot stop God.
For families, this is hope: God works even when relationships are difficult or when life seems chaotic. For consecrated persons, this is reassurance: the mission continues even when circumstances feel limiting or challenging.
The Kingdom of God does not depend on one person—it moves forward through faithfulness, prayer, and obedience.
Faithful Witness in Hidden Ways
There is a story of a teacher in a village who was forbidden to gather children publicly. Yet he continued to teach in homes and pray for his students. Later, when conditions changed, he found that the seeds of faith had grown stronger than ever.
God’s mission continues—not because of human authority, but because of His faithfulness and grace.
Conclusion: Be Part of God’s Unstoppable Kingdom
Jesus calls us today:
Repent—turn your hearts to God,
Trust that His Kingdom is near,
Be faithful, even in the midst of obstacles.
Remember: you can arrest a man of God, but you cannot arrest God.The mission continues. The light continues. The Kingdom is at hand.
Repent, and welcome God’s Kingdom into your life.
Amen.
